So, it has been a while since I, Ryan, have made a post on the blog. I believe that since my last post, a lot has gone on within the Cain Crew. Most everone knows that Alisha is pregnant with our first child. We are too excited for words, but I think that most of that excitement seems to escape us during the moments of sheer exhaustion and nausea. Needless to say, the first tri-mester was miserable for both of us. Prayerfully, we are anticipating that the second tri-mester will be much more enjoyable. Here are some of the lessons that I have learned during the first tri-mester:
1 - Never buy groceries. She will never know what might sound good to eat and if you buy a ton of food for the house, about 90% of it WILL go bad.
2 - Learn what will comfort her during her times of nausea. (You like how I cleaned up vomitting?) For Alisha, it is a cold wash cloth for her head.
3 - Always, Always, ALWAYS listen to your nurse. She really does know what she is talking about.
4 - It is always a good idea to help out around the house by doing the dishes and laundry and cleaning. There is no way she can do it after working, because when she gets home all she will want to do is sleep.
5 - And finally, all she wants to do is sleep. You need to be ok with that, because her body is working around the clock to prepare a hospitable environment for the baby. Oh, and if you want to go hang out with friends, be ok if that doesn't happen, because again, all she wants to do is sleep.
So, needless to say, this year has started off with a BANG! We got pregnant, and I started back to college. So, after talking it over with Alisha, we decided that in order for us to best prepare for our future, it would be a good idea for me to go back to school to get my degree. If I had realized all this back 7 years ago when I was in school, life would probably be much easier right about now, but as most people in my life know, I have a tendency to do things the hard way. So, I am currently enrolled in Lone Star College, which is a community college just down the street from the house. I am really enjoying going back and have just finished my first mid-terms in over 7 years. Overall, I did good. Right now my grades are A's and B's. I am hoping to pull out all A's for my first semester back. I have a long road ahead of me, but with the support of my wife and my friends and family, I know I can accomplish this task. Oh, and if you were curious, I am going to transfer to the Univesity of Houston after Lone Star. Sorry to disappoint all you Tech fans, but...
GO COOGS!!
Here is a fun fact. We went on a cruise a couple weeks ago. This was a great opportunity for us to get away with family and enjoy the open seas. Ex-CRUISE-me!!
This was the inside joke of the week. Here is another joke. This is just nautical weight I am carrying. It doesn't count. All in all we had a great time, good food and wonderful company. Many thanks go out to Brenda and Anthony Altman for making it happen.
We cruised with Anthony and Brenda Altman, Moises and Jennifer Ledezma, Chris and Ashley Petersen, and of course, The Ella Faith. We had such a great time with everyone and look forward to many years of being family together.
