Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, but Falling Out of My Crib REALLY HURTS BAD!!

Well our little girl is letting us know that she is not so little anymore.  We have had her crib lowered to what we thought was the lowest setting, but as it turns out, we could have dropped it about 4 more inches.  One night last week, our little angel was SCREAMING her head off.  We had put her down for bed just like every other night, when the screaming began.  We went in to let her know it was all ok, and then we did what we always do every night.  I (Ryan) went into the garage to work out, and Alisha went and took a bath.  After her bath, Alisha could still hear Reece screaming.  She then didn't hear anything, and when she looked in the monitor, there was no Reece.  So, she decided to check in on her and as she is turning the door knob, there was Reece.  Standing by the door waiting on Momma to come and get her.  Alisha then went to the garage door to show me that Reece had climbed out of her bed, but didn't realize that Reece had hit her head until I asked what happened to her head.  Needless to say, our little girl is getting very independent and BIG!
It was just like the cartoons.  The knot formed quick!

We Know. We Have Been Lazy...

Well, we know that we have been lazy.  We know that we have not done a great job of blogging lately.  We know that there are some of you that have been sitting on the other end of this blog thinking, "When will these two update their blog?"  Well, here you go.  A lot has happened since our last blog, and a lot is getting ready to happen as well.  We are only 2 months away from the birth of our son, Avery Ryan Cain, or AJ as his Papa A will be calling him.  We are getting everything finished in the room from painting, to bedding to even getting his closet put together with all his tiny little man clothes.  But, before he gets here, we still have Reece.  And believe you me, there is never a dull moment with her.  We prayed she would bring joy into the lives of others, but we would never have guessed it would be this much fun and joy.

As most of  you know, Reece has battled ear infections for her whole life.  We went for a checkup and again, there was an ear infection.  The Dr. decided to put her on the most effective medicine out there and mentioned that she probably would not be a fan.  Well, we gave her the medicine for 10 days, there is no ear infection, and she loved the medicine so much that she insists to get more.  So, like good parents, we fill the syringe up with water and "load" her up with "medicine".

Reece at the doctor office before knowing there was another ear infection.

Reece loves working out with Daddy,

Daddy's little Easter Bunny.

Alisha had a business trip planned for the middle of March.  It was for three days and was in the Mile High City of Denver, CO.  While she was there, her company put together bikes for under privileged children.  She had a blast seeing the excitement in the kids faces.  The kids were overhead asking if they were able to take the bikes home with them.  They had no clue that the bikes were theirs.  That is an awesome thing to be a part of.

Here is the bike and kid that was assigned to Alisha's group.
Here is Mommy letting everyone know that she has a boy in her tummy.
Now, while Alisha was out of town, it was the Daddy/Daughter week of fun.  And by the picture below, you can see how much fun we had.  However, we were even more excited when Mommy got back home.

Reece loving dinner with Daddy.

Once Alisha got back home, she decided that she needed a day off.  So, she took Friday off, and spent the day with Reece, Ella and Scarlett.  They had so much fun playing together and riding in Ella's Barbie car.  Reece even decided that it would be more fun in the driver's seat.  I can not imagine how this scenario is going to play out in 15 years.  God, give me the strength now!

Reece loves BathTime.  As you can see, she loves bubbles too.  Normally we bathe Reece in her bathtub, but since Mommy was gone, she said that she needed Reece and Mommy bath time.  So, we then decided to fill the tub with bubbles and turn the jets on.  Reece was LOVING IT!!!

Reece has a favorite TV Show.  Yo Gabba Gabba.  You know when she wants to watch it because she will start screaming YO!.  It is pretty funny to see that she knows when the red Netflix logo appears, she wants YO to come on.  The girl is SMART!

Here Reece is watching YO in Mommy and Daddy's bed.

Well, like I said earlier, we are only a couple months from the due date.  I know Alisha is ready to get that little man out of her.  I know, because she keeps telling me that I did this to her.  But, as you can tell, Alisha looks like she is ready to POP.  We just pray that he is healthy, safe and a good sleeper/eater.  Daddy needs his sleep! LOL!
If you look REAL CLOSE, you can see a little furry headed monster peeking in the mirror.

We went back for our checkup, and we have NO ear infections!!!  We are excited, but, the doctor told us that is we get another one, we will have to get tubes put in.  Please pray that we don't have to have this done, especially since we have a newborn on the way.

In closing, we love you all.  We hope this blog makes you laugh, makes you fall in love with our family a little more, and allows you to get a glimpse of our life as the Cain Crew.

Carpet... Birthdays... & Goodbyes

This past weekend was a busy weekend. We started our Friday night by getting ready to get new carpet installed. We had to move everything out of all of the bedrooms and into the living room. Then Saturday morning we got Brand New Carpet!!! Yeah! Below you can see a few before and after pictures of the kids bedrooms.

Then after getting the house put back together we went to the "First Quarter Birthday Party." This is a celebration of all of the people in Ryan's mom's family that have a birthday in the first quarter of the year. We all get together for dinner and cake.

Then on Sunday we attended the very last church service at Ryan's parents' church "Crossroads Community Church. The church is closing their doors, and since this was where Ryan used to be a youth pastor, his mother is the church secretary and his dad is an Elder. We wanted to make sure we were there to pay our respects and be there with Ron and Sharon. Reece wasn't into listening to people talk, so her and daddy decided to color. It was a great day with friends and Family.

Reecie & Mommy's Day of Fun

Today Reece and I had a Friday-funday all to ourselves. Not that we don't love our family time when Daddy is hanging out with us, because we love that too... But we like to have our girls day every now and then.

The first thing we did was go to Target and shopped for Reece and her little brother. Then we stopped by Ryan's office to play on the computer. Then we went off to lunch with my sister AKA "Gigi" and Scarlett at Luby's. We had a blast! It was so much fun we then had to go home and take a short nap (mommy was hoping the nap would have been a little longer). Then after a little fit... it was time to wrap up our day with a little snack of Valentines Candy! What a great Mommy-Daughter Day!!!

Valentine's Day

I must start out by telling you a little story about what happened the night before Valentine's Day... If you look at the picture below you might have the same thought that Ryan and I had when we saw Reece come into the living room like this... Oh goodness Reece got into the diaper cream-------NOPE!

This is white wall paint! Yes ma'am! Once we realized what she had got into we started freaking out. Ryan grabbed Reece and scared the daylights out of her. We checked to make sure she didn't eat any, and then we stripped her down. I bathed her while Ryan worked on cleaning the mess up as much as possible.

This is what the carpet looks like after the clean-up. The good news is that we are replacing the carpet in just a few weeks! Thank God this didn't happen after we had replaced the carpet!

Reece was crying for about 30 minutes after the paint Trauma... Luckily we were able to calm her down with the present that Mimi sent her for Valentine's Day!

Nothing makes a bad day better than Chocolate!!!

This morning we woke Reece up with her present from Daddy. She was a little sleepy, but she loved it.

Here we have our little Valentine all dressing in her heart shirt for school.

I think her favorite gift though was the teddy bear from Mimi. She loved to cuddle it and give it kisses. Thanks Mimi.

3rd Trimester!

We have finally made it to the 3rd trimester!!! I can not believe how much faster this pregnancy has gone compared to when I was pregnant with Reece. I guess with less than 90 days left I need to the show on the road with getting our little man's room decorated!

Reece didn't want to miss out on a picture opportunity, so we had to take another picture with momma and Reecie!

Adventures in Parenting

So on Monday this past week we took Reece to the Doctor because she wasn't acting quite like herself, and more importantly she wasn't eating (and if you know Reece you know that Eating is her favorite thing to do). The doctor let us know that Reece had a double ear infection, a nasal infection and an eye infection. So we started on antibiotics, and have been on the mend ever since. Reece has been feeling good again since Wednesday, but her appetite did not return until this morning. We went to get breakfast at the Kolache Factory. Reece couldn't wait to eat, so she had some crackers and milk before we got there. Once we got there she had a big sausage egg and cheese kolache and chocolate milk. After breakfast we were on our way to church, and all of a sudden all of the crackers, kolache and milk came back out. Needless to say we did not make it to church. Below are a few pictures we took along the side of the road after we had cleaned Reece and the car up.

Here are the clothes we had to strip off of her in a random parking lot. Luckily we had a bag in the back of the car we could throw them into.

Here is a happy girl after the roadside cleanup.

And finally we have the drive home all relaxed... and naked...
