Surprise!!!!

If you know me you know that I LOVE a good surprise. This year for my birthday my sweet husband planned a really good surprise. We have not had a weekend away from the kids since Reece was born. So he pre-arranged with my mother-in-law to keep the kids, and even convinced my boss to give me Friday off. So we headed off to Texas Wine Country, Fredericksburg Texas. We spent the weekend relaxing and going to the local vineyards. Little know fact... Most of the grapes in Fredericksburg are from Lubbock TX, my home town.

On the way to Fredericksburg we stopped at a car museum. We are both suckers for old cars. It was so much fun to be able to just stop and take pictures. The weekend was a blast, but by the end of it we were both really ready yo get back to our babies.

Father's Day 2014

This year for Father's day we were able to let Daddy sleep in. We did make him breakfast, but it was cold by the time that he woke up to eat. We relaxed, and had Papa Cain over to cook out dinner. Daddy and the kids had a blast playing in the pool!

On the the Friday before Father's Day Ryan went and had "Donuts with Dad!" It was super cute!

King George & The Cain's

This past weekend we went to Dallas to spend a little time with family, and to go to the very last George Straight concert. I assume he will preform again, but this was his last tour.

As you can see from the pictures, Reece, Avery & Abby had a great time. The girls had matching pink boots and cowgirl hats. They were just too cute for words.

We had a pack and play in the suite so that Avery could go to sleep, but as you can see he was all about the music even after we put him in his Mickey Mouse Jammie's. We were not able to stay until the end, but we did get to see one of our other favorite country artists Eric Church. It was the experience of a lifetime to see him and George perform together. It was a weekend full of
 "Making Memories!"

Avery Eating Update

So here is the update on our little "Super Buddy..." Avery has been struggling to eat anything other than pureed food for a while now. We would try to feed him anything with chunks in, and he would projectile vomit. This was a little alarming at first, but since it started at 6 months we just assumed we needed to wait a little while longer to give him solid food. The problem did not resolve its self, so at the 1 year check up we talked to the doctor about it. She was a little alarmed, but did not want to jump to any conclusions.

So the doctor sent us to Texas Children's Hospital for testing. The test gave us good news and bad news. The good news is that it does not look like there is a physical abnormality that is causing the swallowing issue. The bad news is that we now have a group of issues that are "possibly" the reason for the inability to eat solid foods. The list is as follows:

1) Avery is aspirating when he drinks (he is breathing what he drinks, and it is settling in his lungs). This was apparently not an issue while breastfeeding, because the breast milk was not harmful to his lungs. Now that he is on regular milk it is causing issues (that we thought was asthma).

2) Avery is also getting a lot of ear infections from the aspirating, and now we need to see a ENT to possible get tubes in his ears.

3) Avery possibly has Hyperactive Gag-reflux disorder... You can imagine what this causes.

4) Finally, The long of the short of it is---- that Avery will be in speech/occupational therapy for a while to teach him to eat solid food and feed himself.

On a positive note though, Avery has taken a few bites of french fry and a macaroni noodle. We are starting to see progress!
